The University of Barcelona is a public institution with the specific mission of providing the public service of higher education through research, teaching and innovation. Among its functions that of cooperating with government bodies, institutions and other universities with the object of designing, participating in and executing plans and actions that might contribute to the advancement of science, the dissemination of culture and the development of society. The UB is also the principal centre of university research at a state level and has become a European benchmark for research activity, both in terms of the number of research programs it conducts and the excellence these have achieved. The University of Barcelona has more than 90.000 students, 10.000 of them from Europe and the rest of the worlds. Its position and history puts the University of Barcelona as one of the leading institutions of the Mediterranean.
The Faculty of Law of the University of Barcelona has a long tradition in international cooperation. Specifically, the Faculty of Law has actively participating in the Coimbra Group´s exchange programmes and has established joint master degrees with non European universities such as FLACSO (Argentina); San Andrés (Argentina); Puerto Rico( US); Nova Southeastern University (US); The Faculty of Law has also actively participating in the CINDA programme.
