al Baath University

Al-Baath University was established by the Republican Decree No. 44 issued in 1979. Al-Baath University derives its importance from its location in the central region, which connects the desert, coastal, northern and southern regions. This region is very rich in animal resources and agricultural, chemical, oil and textile industries. In this region, there are many archaeological and tourist sites, which necessitates that the university should cover all branches of medical, human and technical knowledge.
Al-Baath University strives to achieve the highest standards in preparing qualified graduates who are capable of meeting the needs of society and developing academic research especially in areas related to economic, social, human and technical development. The university also seeks to participate in enriching human knowledge and national and international cultures. Through scientific, intellectual, literary and artistic achievement of students and academic staff, the university aims at strengthening a modern Arab personality. The university provides equal opportunities for male, female, young, mature and healthy students as well as those with special needs. It guarantees lecturers and students academic freedom as well as freedom of thought and creativity by means of research in different branches of knowledge. The university has also made it its target to keep in touch with national, Arab and international universities, schools and research centres.
